America’s founding fathers had a wine-loving group of men. Namely, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin beloved Philadelphia. From the beginning of American wine lovers have been consumed wines such as Claret, Maderias and ports. Particularly on important occasions such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Granted, the wines have been enjoyed more often than not from the colonists who could afford the luxury of imported wines. Nevertheless, an early love affair had caught on with certain wines. Claret is what the British call Bordeaux. And both Jefferson and Franklin would have sipped plenty of it during the visit to Versailles. Perhaps these diplomats for the States enjoyed some of the earliest Wine Tasting . One can not help but ask. Oh, they had many other wines as well – probably sipped champagne – but it was Bordeaux who captured her heart, and Jefferson was an avid collector, on his return to the States.

Not long after, the Americans made their first attempts to establish vineyards and wines produced in their own. William Penn’s plantations in Philadelphia are the earliest known experiments of winemaking in America, and the vineyards that Jefferson planted at his home in Monticello well documented. The Wines. Soon Americans would turn the ghosts – cheaper and could afford the huddled masses and to enjoy it. Spirits take this really love our country until well into the 20th Century. Wine apparently made a comeback – and a large yet it – but the arrival of America for his own country, we enjoyed Claret from France, and ports and Madeira from Portugal.

Chile and Argentina are becoming more and more interesting as for the producing countries of UK wine market. We have long known that Chile wines produced imported style for our market and value for money and our buying director, Emma Roberts, many new providers after their visit two years ago. Argentina is an emerging nation produce and thus worth a visit. I personally hadnâ? T visited either for 11 years, so this yearâ? S trip was a real eye-opener.

Basically, Chile is a very different country today than it was 5 years ago, let alone 11! Santiago now feels like a modern and vibrant international city. I was, like many new manufacturers are amazed at how many new vineyards have been planted in native sites in the last 5-7 years. The really exciting aspect is the emergence of regional differences in the wines. The cooler areas closer to the coast in the west and the Andes to the east to see plantings of Sauvignon and Pinot Noir and other varieties cooler climate. Vineyard areas such as San Antonio and Leyda near the Pacific Ocean (which I hadnâ? T realized is very cold in Chile because of the Humboldt current) is not even a decade ago. Growers are planting to the south in cooler peripheral areas towards Antarctica. In more traditional areas, producers are the fertile valley on the slopes at higher altitudes, where yields are lower, will postpone the harvesting later and aromatic expression is more complicated. And of course there are Limari and Elqui in the north, four hours drive from Santiago â after the start of the Atacama desert?? wonderful growing conditions.

We have also come across new suppliers, organic suppliers, old warriors such as Los Vascos is doing great things (a tip, try one of their normal ripening Cabernet for a few years?? It pretty old), so it is at this point for the next year.

There is a new boutique wineries make small production starting up, some beautiful, hand-crafted wines.

The 24-hour journey home (a tip, try to avoid a longer waiting time between connections Sao Paolo Airport â?? Is there anything to do!) Has been worthwhile and the visit will be one of the greatest achievements since many years.
